IRC Tutorial

Want to go onto IRC but have no clue how it works? Follow this tutorial and find out how join our channel. We'll be assuming that you are going to be using our Java IRC chat client that can be found here.

First Time using the Java IRC Chat

1. Choose your IRC nickname by typing " /nick <your_nick> " (without the quotes of course).
   
   
2. Wait at least 30 seconds (this is required so that you are able to register your nickname).
   
   
3. Type in " /nickserv register <password> <email address> " where <password> is the password for your IRC nickname and <email address> is your email where the confirmation message will be sent.
   
   Please make sure to use your REAL e-mail address, as you won't be able to activate your IRC account if you type in a fake e-mail address.
   
   
4. Check your e-mail for your confirmation message. The e-mail will have the subject: "Nickname registration (<your_nick>)" and the sender will be "services@rizon.net".
   
   
5. Copy the line in the e-mail that should be something like " /msg Nickserv confirm XXXXXXX " (where XXXXXXX is a sequence of random letters and numbers) into the IRC client.
   
   
6. If you registered successfully, you'll get the following message:
   " *** Mode changed to ixr "
   
   
7. Type in " /join #dynasty-scans " and that's it, you've joined our IRC channel!
   
   
8. Start chatting with us!
   
   

Here's an example of what to do to register a nickname. Let's assume I want my nick to be "ILovePastel" and my e-mail is "ILovePastel@gmail.com"

Logging into our channel

After registering your nick, when you want to enter the IRC channel again, you'll have to login. So make sure to REMEMBER your nickname and password! Write it down somewhere just to be sure you remember. Fortunately, logging in is much easier than registering.

1. Type in " /nick <your_nick > "
   
   
2. Type in " /msg nickserv identify <password > "
   
   
3. If you logged in successfully, you'll get the following message:
   " *** Mode changed to ixr "
   
   
4. Type in " /join #dynasty-scans "
   
   
5. Start chatting with us!
   
   

Here's an example of how to login. My nick is " ILovePastel " and my password is
" luvPastel ".
