Places like torrent hosting sites (the pirate bay or mininova) and hongfire. Google if all else fails.

I friggin' love visual novels too, but it's hard to find the time to play them. I played some of the most popular ones though. Kind of hard for me to find those (that I can pirate!) that focus on plot instead of the terrible sex that's usually found in translated VN's :P

yeah ditto.

Have you played Clannad and Hourglass of Summer? I've only played Clannad and it was tear-jerking (and has no sex at all).. I was like crying while playing the damn thing.. it's a really good game. I'm still searching for Hourglass though so I don't know if its a good game |3

I'm planning on playing Clannad in the near future and like you, I can't find Hourglass for pirating ^_^

I don't really recommend Snow Drop, nothing in it really clicked for me. The choices were complete and totally randomly repeated ones (low slopes, medium slopes, high slopes, wtf? Sure there's the save function...). While I do want VN's that aren't too easy to pick the girl you want (whose house should I go to hmmm), this one was just...overkill. The story wasn't really working for me too.

However I recommend Snow Sakura. Even if only two of the five routes are any good in my opinion, I still loved it. Tons of comedy for me to enjoy.

Can't appreciate good VN's without having played a few bad ones though. Hell, maybe you'll like Snow Drop and hate Snow Sakura.

I'm a huge fan of VNs. ^^ My current favorites are Ayakashibito, Bullet Butlers and Chrono Belt. I especially like everything I've played by Nitroplus & am looking forward to exploring more by Liar-soft. (Also recently worked on the translation for the upcoming Chaos;Head English patch.)

3 sister story. The fisrt translated game of this genre.

It was the fisrt one I played. It is my favorite.

Give it a try, mind the old age though (It came out in mid 90s)

I play a few.

I have beaten Snow Sakura and loved it, and I working on Fate/Stay Night. I really want to play Little Sister Kana, but I just don't have the monies to buy it from J-list. Aside from that I don't like a ton of ero in my eroge, I prefer them to be very story heavy, and its hard to find a good one in English that is not focused on the porn part of it, because thats what the American consumers buy. No dis on America or anything, its just what people want so its what get translated professionally.

I played:
Fate Stay/Night (best one)
Shuffle!
Season of Sakura
3 Sisters Story
Tsukihime
Crescendo
Kanon (2 endings missing)
Gloria
Critical Point

I could also add Utawarerumono and Brave Soul but these are actually RPG games (Uta is turn based RPG strategy, while BS is Diablo clone RPG)

I also have Snow Drop, but for some reason text is "messy" (I don't know how else to explain it).

I rarely get emotional while playing games, or watching anime, but some Visual Notes did get me near tears.

My favorite VN is yume miru kusuri. Its sort of half backed, but was really touching at points.

My least favorite would be... hmm, that's a much harder choice. I'd go with Lets Meow Meow. don't go anywhere near that one.
